U20 AFCON: The Gambia Leapfrog Tunisia In Remake Of 2021 Third Place Game

There is a successful start for The Gambia in the 2023 edition of the TotalEnergies U20 AFCON after a slender 1-0 victory against Tunisia on Tuesday, in a mimick of the 2021 bronze medal game.

The Gambians and fans thought the game was headed for a draw in their group C opener, before finally snatching victory (1-0).

In a remake of the 2021 bronze medal game against the same opponent, the Gambians spent most of the time in the Tunisian camp, without managing to create real goal threats.

A sterile domination which could have left the team with regrets, if not for captain Alagie Saine who finally unlocked the Tunisian defense with a strike that went in off the post at the 84th minute.

One goal was synonymous to victory and momentarily gifted The Gambia top of Group C with three points, awaiting the upcoming match between Benin and Zambia.
