Cotonsport – Ahly: ‘We do not have pressure’ – Daouda Kamilou

Cotonsport’s cult hero and skipper Kamilou Daouda has opined serenity and calm before Cotonsport’s biggest game yet this season, against Al Ahly in the TotalEnergies CAF champions league on Friday.

The 35-year-old is one of two Cotonsport players; Harry Ako the other, who have taken part in the prestigious tournament before.

“We don’t have any pressure. We are already out of the competition. The team is going to give its best because we know that we have registered no points. We will do everything to get the 3 points.”

Kamilou is not certain of a starting berth given his age and lack of game time this season, but his presence in the locker room is untrodden;

“We have spoken to the kids, it is the first time most of them are playing the champions league. They are trying their best, and I hope they continue that way. Tomorrow there is no pressure on them, hopefully the lads can produce.

Cotonsport is already out of contention with 2 games left but a win against Ahly will take the club of the century right down with the 17-time Elite One winners.

Kamilou, an experienced CAF champions league campaigner was in the Cotonsport squad that stunned the continent to reach the final of the competition in 2008. He has since then gone on to score over 150 goals in all competitions for the club.

The former Niger international (37 caps for 10 goals) alongside his teammates have 400 thousand francs as a win bonus to defeat Ahly.
