Bayern 4-1 Furth: Choupo-Moting Saves Bayern From The Bench

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting climbed off the bench to aid the Bavarians to a convincing 4-1 victory over SpVgg Greuther Furth.

Bayern had to come from one down, as the away side (SpVgg Greuther Furth) scored against the run of play in the first half.

32 year old Choupo replaced Omar Richards in Bayern’s second change of the game. Barely a minute after coming off the bench, the forward set up Lewandowski for the games equaliser. Choupo Moting pulled back at the right post and Lewandowski wrestled home on the other side.

Bayern kept mounting tones of pressure and got a well deserved lead though, it came through an unfortunate own goal (61) from Greuther Furth’s Griesbeck.

Lewandowski later added another to complete his brace at the 82nd minute to put the game to bed. Bayern’s star man headed home from a reverse nudge back across the box on the heels of a corner.

At the cusp of the final whistle, Choupo Moting got for himself a well deserved goal. The forward fired Gnabry’s square ball home from close range.

The 2021 AFCON bronze medalist took his tally up to 4 goals in 11 games, with multitude of those appearances coming off the bench.

Choupo Moting is on record to have aired that he wouldn’t play for Cameroon if the incumbent coach – Antonio Conceiçao remains in charge. Now, the indomitable Lions have the latter’s situation to be worried about, especially with a double confrontation later in March against Algeria, in the WC qualifiers.

With the victory Choupo and co consolidate top spot with 55 points in the Bundesliga after 23 match days.
