CAF CL: Petro Unseat WAC In Group D

Petro de Luanda scratched Wydad Athletic Club and took the lead in Group D of the CAF champions league!

Petro de Luanda had the last and most meaningful laugh as they faced a tough WAC side at home on Saturday.

At the Estadio 11 de Novembro, Petro took the lead but it had to wait up until the 41st minute. The deadlock was broken by Brazilian – Tiago Azulão.

Two-time winners of the CAF champions league, Wydad Athletic club was not going down without a fight, as they equalised through Jalal Daoudi, at the 59th minute.

Petro Luanda of coach Alexandre Santos wasted no time before regaining their advantage; 9 minutes separated the goal that helped Petro regained the lead, and the equaliser.

It was Adriano Belmiro Duarte (Yano) who ensured all three points with his 69th minute goal.

The victory allowed the Angolan club to temporarily seat atop Group D with 4 points. Wydad of Casablanca are 2nd with 3 points.
