CAF Women’s CL: Hasaacas Ladies, Malabo Kings Make It Through In Group A

Real frantic moments occurred on the last playing day of group A in the CAF Women’s Champions League, that finally saw Hasaacas Ladies qualify as top in group A, and Malabo Kings as runners-up.

Hard luck for hosts Wadi Degla who had highs and lows, seemingly going through to the semis with a particular result at one stage, and crashing out in the twinkle of an eye.

AS Mande – Malabo Kings

AS Mande took the front two minutes in, and when all looked set for a sour night for the UNIFFAC champions, Muriellynda Abossolo struck to take the game to a dead rubber.

A tie was enough to see Malabo Kings through after their previous victory against Wadi Degla.

Hasaacas Ladies missed out on their one hundred percent record as they were held by Wadi Degla to a 2-2 tie, but no one should really care after all! The essential was done.

Jasmin Zachwieja struck first to gift Wadi a glimmer of hope, but Hasaacas’ Faustina Aidoo later scored to cancel out the early goal.

Wadi Degla in front of their home fans were not ready to go down without a fight. With sheer resurgence, they took the lead once more. This time, through Noha Elsolh, converting a direct free – kick.

Ghanaian representatives Hasaacas Ladies got the last laugh of the night, and indeed the most meaningful, when Veronica Appiah’s well placed header – found the net.

Hasaacas Ladies go through with 7 points, while Malabo Kings, from a difficult position, qualifies to the semis with four points.
