Cameroon cup: Fovu oust Victoria United, make final four
An Ikpeme classic and Palice Dzomene’s first half cutie meant 2001 and 2010 Cameroon cup winners Fovu, beat Victoria United to the semis of this year’s Cameroon cup.
Guy Bertin Djiepnang’s charges took the lead at the 16th minute mark through Palice Dzomene.
Fovu quizzed Victoria United on numerous occasions and could have easily added more if not of goalkeeper Peter Defang’s agility.
This year’s Elite Two champions, Victoria United, came out after the break all fired up, but Fovu’s defensive pair of Arsene Mbe and LeGrand Nkussi faired well.
Fovu characteristically sulked up the pressure and then hit again 8 minutes after the hour mark.
It is now the end of the road for Opopo, 2017 semifinalists that can take positives from this year’s Cameroon cup.
Fovu, meanwhile, have a real case and will keep pursuit of the trophy against Elite One foes Colombe of Dja in he final four next week.
