Cameroon vs Cote D’Ivoire: ‘We Have To give Joy To Our Fans,’ Christian Bassogog
Lions winger, Christian Bassogog is upbeat ahead of the Cameroon against Cote D’Ivoire cruncher, on the ocassion of match day 6 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
All roads on the continent leads to Japoma, Douala ahead of the mouth watering encounter between two heavyweights (Cameroon and Cote D’Ivoire). Amid all the hype is 2017 AFCON MVP – Christian Bassogog, who feels the Lions need to give Joy to their fans.
The Shanghai Shenhua wing – maestro, talking to sportsvibes earlier today, had the following to say at the pre match presser;
‘The team is boosted! we know that it is a capital game. We do not want to make the same mistakes twice, especially when we will be playing at home.’ Bassogog stated, having the first leg in mind.
A Sebastien Haller brace helped Cote D’Ivoire edge the Lions in Abidjan some weeks back, and if the Indomitable Lions need to make a record extending 8th – appearance in the World Cup jamboree, they absolutely need to right their wrongs on Nov. 16.
‘We need our fans to be with us. It will be necessary to win this match so that the Cameroonians do not regret their presence in the field. We have to give joy to our fans,’ Christian opined.
Quizzed on what he thinks about criticism for lack competition, the explosive forward aired; ‘thanks to the gaffer for the confidence bestowed on me.
‘It’s true I haven’t been in top competition but that didn’t prevent me from working and when I arrive here in the team, I give my best.
‘I owe it to my teammates who make the team tick. When it comes to criticism, we know that it is through critics that one can improve.
‘I take it positively and I will work to be better and give even more smiles to Cameroonians,’ the fleetfooted lefty ended.
The later was unarguably the best performer in the Lions’ most recent game against Malawi, with a blistering performance, blessed by a brace. However, Bassogog is not carried away. The 26 year old told reporters that it all depends on the gaffer’s tactical dispositions; starting him against Cote D’Ivoire or not.
Christian has been tipped by dozens to start against Cote D’Ivoire as Cameroon go in search of the sole knockout ticket in group D, on Tuesday 16.
