Young Sports Academy of has secured vital points which could enhance their chances of challenging for the title this season in a late 1-0 win over Coton Sport of Garoua on Matchday-15 in Mbouda.
The late lunch meeting noted some key changes to Daniel Breard’s starting XI with Patient Wassou, Aziz Bassane on the bench while Emmanuel Mahop and Issa Fadyl were absent on the matchlist.
Njibero Durell made the difference with his first goal of the season in the 85thminute, connecting squarely with Fang Engelbert’s cross to head home YOSA’s sixth win in five matches.
The home side looked sharp from a defeat over their shoulders against Stade Renard four weeks back. Nguimbat Jr., Hamid Hamza and Fang produced attempts that didn’t trouble goalkeeper Allanbatnan in the first half.
Breard’s men returned from the break and took over command, conserving possession heading into the hour mark but were however unable to beat Yindui Mohammed in the opposite goal.
Both mangers conducted substitutions with Wassou, Aziz coming on first and were later joined by Chamdjou and Agada to help salvage the situation while Mujibu Mohammed and Tiambou Franky replaced Acha Aristie and Nguimbat Junior for Young Sport.
The expected response did come from the Yellow Submarines in the final five minutes when Engelbert set-up Njibero Durell to his first of the season.
YOSA’s win might have just turned around their season’s fortunes as they sit third and look solid to contest for the league and not fight relegation as it has been the case in the last two campaigns.
