Florent Ibenge on Verge of Mali Appointment Following Final Shortlist Battle
The Malian Football Federation are reportedly closing in on the appointment of Florent Ibenge as the new head coach of the Mali national football team.
According to the latest reports, the Congolese tactician is on the verge of being named the next manager of the Eagles, with an agreement believed to be close to being finalized.
Ibenge arrives with an impressive pedigree that appears to have convinced Malian football authorities. Widely regarded as one of Africa’s most accomplished coaches, he enjoyed a memorable spell with the DR Congo national football team, leading them to the bronze medal at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and guiding the side to triumph at the 2016 African Nations Championship.
Beyond his international success, Ibenge also made history at club level with AS Vita Club, steering them to the final of the 2014 CAF Champions League. He later added another major continental title to his résumé by winning the CAF Confederation Cup with RS Berkane, further cementing his status as one of the continent’s elite managers.
Should his appointment be officially confirmed, Ibenge would face the demanding task of revitalizing Malian football and harnessing the immense potential of a talented generation of players. His primary objective would be to guide the Eagles back to the summit of African football and deliver strong performances in upcoming international competitions.
