Boxing in recent times has held Cameroonians spell bound.

Men and women of all fields of life stayed all night long to watch Francis Ngannou box against Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

Wishing to trailblaze in the path of great boxers with Cameroonian roots, Mouafo was not excluded from the pack of onlookers.

“Ngannou’s first fight against Fury was exceptional. I am from the boxing world and I know that its a sport that isn’t easy. You cannot practice on the eve and then defeat a champion almost immediately.

“My heart was with him on that day. As he has always said, he shocked the world.

“Contrary to the first, the other fight against Joshua was very difficult. But I think he didn’t peak due to fatigue and other elements, as he explained post bout. However, Joshua took it very serious. I think Fury didn’t take the fight that serious, in simple terms.”

With Ngannou’s first discipline being mixed martial arts, Christophe Mouafo lifts his motivation from two Cameroonian-born hitters from a solid boxing background.

“Carlos Takam and Hassan N’dam are my boxing references. Most recently, I was in Monaco and trained with Hassan.

” For Carlos Takam, we communicate via Instagram. He is a great source of motivation. I am certain that I can match their levels. “
