Gomes Da Rosa: Former Cotonsport Coach To Lead Mauritania To AFCON 2021

A month and some, after the dismissal of Corentin Martins, his compatriot Didier Gomes Da Rosa has been announced as the new coach of Mauritania national selection.

Da Rosa will hence, lead Mauritania to only their second AFCON finals come January, against: Tunisia, Mali and Gambia in group F.

The details as per the French technician’s signing agreement and length of time is yet to be disclosed.

The former Simba coach emerged top choice of the Federation to lead the Mauritanian selection, amid other big names.

The French coach has never managed a national team in his career. But he has however had a rich experience in the management of African clubs.

Between 2013 and to date, Didier Gomes Da Rosa has managed nine African clubs namely: Rayon Sports, Coton Sport, CS Constantine, JSM Skikda, Ethiopian Coffee, Horoya AC, Ismaïly, SC Al-Merrikh and Simba SC.

All eyes are therefore on the Football Federation of Mauritania to know the specifications of the 52-year-old technician’s terms.
