Rigobert Song Names 34-Man Squad To Hit The AFCON Road

Coach Rigobert has pre-selected 34 professionals to pit Kenya and Burundi in the AFCON qualifiers in group C.

Already part of five African nations qualified for the World Cup later this year, Cameroon will have to keep that ecstasy behind and try to pick a ticket for AFCON 2023 starting with tricky fixtures against Burundi and Kenya.

Coach Rigobert Song maintained most of the roster that helped Cameroon go through to Qatar with that dramatic late winner in Blida, making just few additions.

Goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa despite despite fine performances in the Latvian championship with Auda, hasn’t managed to poke his nose into the goalkeeping trio of Omossola, Onana and Epassy.

After having had a good talk with FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o, RC Lens’ Christopher Wooh has agreed to represent the Lions, thus, he has been handed his first call. Fresh from winning the Greek Super League with Olympiakos, Kunde has been maintained by coach Rigobert Song, who has equally called up Zambo Anguissa despite the latter controversially missing out on the last camp. Former French youth international, Olivier Kemen is a newcomer to the squad.

The big news in the attack line is 19-goal Assante Kotoko hit-man, Franck Mbella, finally compensated for his flamboyant statistics in Ghana.

Leandre Tawamba, equally on 19 goals in all competitions with Taawoun equally makes the cut, while Vincent Aboubakar of Al Nassr shook off an Injury scare to make the squad.
