Sylvain Gbohouo Set To Miss AFCON 2021

– Shot stopper Sylvain Gbohouo is set to miss the AFCON that comes up in few days.

The decision was taken by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee and made public via a message posted on the Ethiopian Football Association’s Facebook page. Sylvain Gbohouo, Cote D’Ivoire’s number 1 is temporarily suspended from all football-related activities.

“Trimetazidine” was found in the urine of a player of Wolkite City, a Division 1 club in Ethiopia. This, following a check last November.

The substance ‘Trimetazidine’, is banned and cannot be used by athletes since 2014.

As a direct consequence, the goalkeeper should miss the AFCON whilst he is currently in preparation with the Elephants in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

A situation that further complicates the preparation of the group of elephants, already decimated by many cases of COVID-19.
