SWRL Mini Interpools: NQSA roll back the years to Defeat Best Stars in ‘sudden death’

Njalla Quan SA have beaten Best Stars 2-0 to book their place in the Semifinals of the South West Regional Mini Interpools.

An own goal from Njie Billa and Ngeme Ngassa was enough to see the Bimbia Boys triumph over the city rivals.

NQSA is making their first appearance in the Regional playoffs since 2019, while Best Stars Academy is making a third consecutive appearance in the competition.

The City of Buea was at the center of attraction as host city of the playoffs for the first time in over a decade.

Both coaches went in for an open game, but Best Stars Academy of Limbe looked a better in the first five minutes of the game, as Corines Che missed a chance to score his fourth goal, but his shot hit the site netting.

Few seconds later, Corines Che had a chance to score his 16th goal of the campaign, but couldn’t capitalise on the assist of Egbe.

NQSA had a chance to open score through Ngeme Ngassa who was looking for his seventh goal of the season, but couldn’t have a convincing finish.

Etchi Lord has been a trait to the Best Stars defense but hasn’t been productive in the final turf so.

At the 18th minute, Luis Ngole had a shot from close range, but his shot was saved the NQSA goalkeeper.

The finalist of the last two seasons had another chance from a counter but goalkeeper Desire Ojong was there to save the Bimbia Boys.

Ngeme Ngassa who has seven goals had a chance from close range but Alma Baba was there to stop him from scoring the opening goal of the game.

Njie Billa Emmanuel who was best defender during the Easter Cup 2022 had a head injury after a collision with a NQSA attacker – five minutes to the break. The defender returned to the pitch after receiving treatment.

Ntolo Mengue had a chance from a free kick to put Njalla Quan SA in front but his shot was intercepted for a corner.

Corines Che had a chance at stoppage time to score from the right flank but his shot went wide as it ended 0-0 at halftime.

The second half still characterised by the passing game but no clear cut chance recorded.

Coach Djeufac Saturnine made his first substitution of the game as he brought in Otia Nestor for Egbe Sylvanus to add more power to his attack.

Mohnyah Beaching had a long range for NQSA but his shot went wide for a goal kick.

NQSA looks a better side in the first 20 minutes of the half as Wounouri Pempemeh’s shot was saved by the Best Star goalkeeper.

Best Stars came so close in scoring the first goal as Ngolle’s shot hit the wood work, but few seconds later NQSA got their goal as Njie Billa scored in his own net to put the Bimbia Boys in front.

Best Stars had chances to score the equalizing goal but Otia Nestor and Ayuk Cosmas squandered their chances.

Njalla Sports Academy proved to be more agile as Ngeme Ngassa scored his eighth of the season to put the Bimbia Boys two goals up two minutes to full time.

Chances from Corines Che and Ayuk Cosmas couldn’t bring the last year’s finalist into the game.

Best Stars’ defeat means they will not play the playoffs final for the first time in four years.
