Mbuemo returns to training ahead of Arsenal show-down

The Latest injury news ahead of Arsenal vs Brentford has Bryan Mbuemo back in training after recovering from an ankle issue.

Bryan Mbeumo has returned to Brentford training ahead of his side’s Premier League clash against Arsenal. The Cameroon international picked up a serious ankle injury in December during the defeat to Brighton which resulted in him missing the Africa Cup of Nations.

Prior to his injury, Mbuemo had become his club’s talisman in the absence of Ivan Toney with seven goals to his name from 15 Premier League appearances. Yoane Wissa has also been absent for a period of the season with injury issues and international commitments, however he has returned in recent weeks and his sublime overhead kick against Chelsea this past weekend was a clear reminder of his ability.

With Mbuemo now nearing a return, Thomas Frank could have Wissa, Toney and Neal Maupay all available for the first time this season.

While his return could arrive as a huge boost, the Bees are dealing with a significant injury crisis in defence. Left-back Rico Henry has been joined by Aaron Hickey, Ethan Pinnock and Ben Mee, the remaining three members of Frank’s first-choice back four, in recent weeks as long-term absentees.
