Zambo Anguissa ruled out of World Cup qualifiers against Libya & Eswatini
A muscle injury has ruled Napoli midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa out for the upcoming Serie A clash against Inter Milan. The midfielder, would in fact, be out for a minimum of four games.
Napoli released an official statement on Tuesday to reveal the Cameroon international’s problem.
This injury comes at the worst possible time for team Cameroon, which will have to do without his experience and physical impact during the crucial matches against Eswatini and Libya, scheduled for March as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Indomitable Lions will therefore have to do without one of their key players in midfield, who has been in flamboyant form, scoring 5 and assisting 3 times in 26 games of the Serie A.
The former Fulham star felt pain toward the end of Napoli’s 2-1 league defeat at newcomers Como.
However, no one expected him to skip Saturday’s pivotal fixture at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Meanwhile, manager Antonio Conte has lost a vital midfield piece ahead of a season-defining showdown in Naples.
Replacing Anguissa won’t be simple for club and country. The 29-year-old has been omnipresent for the Partenopei this season.
Before coming off the bench against Como, he had started all 25 previous Serie A games under Conte.
As such, Anguissa’s absence comes as a significant boost for Inter.
