CAF EXCO seat: Samir Sokba’s know-how worth imploring
The Mauritius Football Association president, Samir Sokba is gunning for a Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee seat amongst others.
In total, its going to be a full swing by 9 members to gain admission into one of Africa’s power rooms, where decision makers reside.
Samir Sokba is credited as one of those who positively impacted the game on the continent during the Ahmad era, transitioning through Hayatou’s tenure.
Mr. Samir is well known around the corridors of the Executive Committee path, something that leverages him ahead of prime time votes in less than a fortnight.
In 2019, Sobha was elected to represent the Southern Zone, a seat that was previously held by Zambia’s Kalusha Bwalya.
The supremo didn’t step back and watch, but he contributed a great deal in re-shaping the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA).
Scheduled to take place in Morocco on March 12, the elections will allow CAF member associations to vote for the confederation’s president and members of the executive committee.
Unlike the executive committee elections, the CAF presidency race remains uncontested, as Patrice Motsepe is the sole candidate.
Going by his experience and know-how, Sobha should grab at least one if six available seats out of nine.
