David Pagou Unveils Squad for FIFA Series 2026

The head coach of the Indomitable Lions, David Pagou, officially released his team roster this Thursday, March 19, 2026, naming the players selected for the second edition of the FIFA Series friendly tournament, set to take place in Australia.

Following an intensive training camp with domestic-based players in Yaounde, the Cameroonian tactician has made his final call. Pagou has curated a squad that strikes a balance between veterans and a bold new generation. However, the most talking point of this list is the absence of some stars.

Big Names Sidelined

In a move that signals a potential shift in leadership, both Andre Onana and Vincent Aboubakar have been sidelined. The omission of the Trabzonspor goalkeeper and the veteran captain suggests that Pagou is prioritizing a look at alternative options and breathing fresh life into the squad before the AFCON qualifiers Kickstart. Nohou Tolo, Carlos Baleba and Junior Tchamadeu are equally 3 solid names left out of the list.

The Local Core & New Blood

Following his promise to reward domestic talent, the squad features 4 local players from the MTN Elite One who impressed during the Yaounde training camp.

Even more striking is the inclusion of 8 Newcomers, many of whom are receiving their very first opportunities to wear the green, red, and yellow at the senior level. These fresh faces include:

  • Housseini Ousmanou (Goalkeeper)
  • Emmanuel Moungam (Defender)
  • Eloundou Ndzomo (Defender)
  • Saidou Moubarak (Midfielder)
  • Ryan Fosso (Midfielder)
  • Fernandez Monyebe (Midfielder)
  • Konrad Nfanseu (Midfielder)
  • Yondjo Matah (Forward)

Cameroon is slated to face Australia on March 27 at the Accor Stadium in Sydney, followed by a clash against China on March 31 at Melbourne’s AAMI Park. These fixtures serve as a dress rehearsal ahead of the resumption of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
