Transfers: YOSA Keen On Landing 2019 AFCON U17 Winner

Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda have held talks and entered an agreement in principle to sign 2019 U17 AFCON winner, Ekoi Makumba Manfred, sportglitz.com can confirm.

20-year-old Manfred has returned home to give a new breath of fresh air to his career after a two year spell in Spain where he played for Spanish third-tier side UP Langreo.

The Best Stars Academy graduate is expected at Yong Sport’s base at 6 am this Saturday, October 8, with the club set to finalize the deal in the hours ahead. Yong Sports Academy have been on a trail blazer this transfer market, going for not just quantity, but quality. The 2013 Cameroon Cup champions have completed several high profile signings including Chem Herbert from PWD of Bamenda, and Nchindo John Bosco, an erstwhile Cameroon U20 international amongst others.

For a deal that has ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ written all over it, Ekoi Manfred could become the second Best Stars graduate to join YOSA after Daniel Mambu switched Best Stars for the Bamenda outfit in mid-August.

For starters, Manfred has previously bagged two zonal youth tournament titles with Cameroon, in addition to the 2019 U17 AFCON where his heroics in the 5-aside, post-match penalties helped Cameroon to gold in Tanzania.

Manfred was equally part of Cameroon’s squad that eventually took part in the 2019 Under-17 world cup in Brazil.
