Marinica Steps Down as Zimbabwe Head Coach
Former PSL tactician Marian Marinica has stepped down as head coach of Zimbabwe’s senior men’s national team, just months after his appointment.
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) confirmed on Monday that Marinica resigned from his role, despite only taking charge in November 2025.
In the interim, former SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo—who previously served as assistant—has been entrusted with leading the Warriors.
In an official statement, ZIFA said:
“The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) announces that Marian Marinica has resigned from his position as head coach of the Zimbabwe senior men’s national team, citing personal reasons.
ZIFA has accepted his resignation and thanks Coach Marinica for his contribution to the Warriors. The Association wishes him well in his future endeavours.”
Tembo will take charge on an interim basis and is set to lead the team at the upcoming Unity Cup in the United Kingdom. He will be assisted by Takesure Chiragwi, who has been appointed assistant coach.
