Motsepe Meets Tanzania President Suluhu as AFCON 2027 Preparations Gather Pace

Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe has paid a courtesy visit to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan to convey his condolences following the death of her husband.

Dr Motsepe visited President Suluhu at the State House in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, where he conveyed his personal condolences and those of CAF’s 54 Member Associations.

The CAF President also used the visit to brief the Tanzanian Head of State on the progress of preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027, which will be jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.

President Suluhu thanked Dr Motsepe for the visit and message of condolence, while reaffirming the Tanzanian Government’s commitment to delivering a successful continental tournament in 2027.

Earlier on Thursday, Dr Motsepe held discussions with Tanzania’s Prime Minister, Honourable Mwigulu Nchemba, as part of his visit to the country.

He was accompanied by CAF Vice Presidents Kurt Okraku and Faizel Sidat, Acting CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu, Tanzania Football Federation President Wallace Karia, Chairman of the Tanzania Local Organizing Committee Leodgar Tenga, as well as senior Tanzanian government officials.

The visit comes as CAF continues to monitor preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be staged across the three East African countries.
