CAF Confed Cup: Souibou Wants Revenge For Cameroon (Coton) vs Al Masry (Egypt)

Cotonsport’s deputy captain and lead goal – scorer, Souaibou Marou, has told reporters that their CAF Confederation Cup clash against Al Masry could be likened to a Cameroon against Egypt game, post AFCON.

The question was inevitable and eventually popped up in the pre_match presser, and
Souaibou was clear on the game’s stakes.

‘When Cotonsport plays, it is like Cameroon is playing. We will have to revenge what happened when Cameroon played Egypt in the AFCON,’ the 21 year old told reporters.

For starters, there was some back and forth when the Indomitable Lions squared off against Egypt in the semis of the just ended AFCON. FECAFOOT boss – Samuel Eto’o was caught on after the Lions’ quarter final victory against the Gambia, saying the next game was going to be ‘war’.

Egyptian gaffer Carlos Queiroz then hit out at the African football legend, stating that the message was a “very bad message”.

Egypt went on to defeat the Lions 3-1 on penalties, and days after, a club side from Egypt is in Cameroon to face Cotonsport of Garoua.

Quizzed on the same topic, Al Masry coach – Moïne Chaâban denied a definite response to the question.

Cotonsport will look to emulate their Confederation Cup semi-final run last term in a relatively tougher group C, consisting of; Al Masry, AS Otoho and TP Mazembe.

As early as the tie comes, it is of vital importance already, and has a ‘must won’t tag written all over it, for 15-time Elite One winners, Cotonsport.

Souibou Marou has scored 3 of Cotonsport’s four goals through the preliminaries this campaign, and coach Souleymanou Aboubakar will hope the winger can find his touch against Al Masry at 2 pm local time on Sunday.
