Cameroon Rebound to Secure FIFA Series Victory Over China

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon re-established continental pride this morning, with a 2-0 win over China PR.

Following the late heartbreak of an opening-day defeat to Australia, where a 90th-minute strike condemned them to a narrow loss, the response demanded by both the technical bench and fans arrived with speed.

The Lions wasted no time asserting their physical and tactical superiority. Just three minutes into the encounter, Aboubakar Nagida—a constant thorn in the side of the Chinese defense—provided a pinpoint delivery that found Karl Etta Eyong. The striker showed immense composure, slotting a right-footed shot into the bottom corner to grant Cameroon the dream start.

Before the Chinese backline could regroup, the lead was doubled in the 9th minute. Capitalizing on defensive frailty and a lapse in communication, Saidou Alioum Moubarak pounced on a setup from Konrad Nifanso Sinyam following a Nagida corner. Moubarak fired his effort into the top right corner, leaving goalkeeper Yan Junling with no chance and immediately deflating the opposition.

While the first half was defined by attacking flair, the second period served as a testament to Cameroon’s discipline. Unlike the late collapse against the Socceroos, the Lions remained composed and compact throughout the middle stages of the match.

China PR struggled to find a foothold, though they did force a superb save from Cameroon’s Simon Ngapandouetnbu in the 49th minute when Wei Shihao tested him from range.

The introduction of Danny Namaso in the 65th minute—replacing the injured Maël Fernandez Monyebe—maintained the intensity, with Namaso nearly adding a third via a powerful header that was well-saved.

Cameroon’s defensive structure, anchored by Kévin Keben and Stephane Paul Keller, remained largely unbothered for the duration of the 90 minutes.

The match ended on a slightly frantic note as Stephane Paul Keller, who had been a rock at the back, received a second yellow card in the first minute of stoppage time for a foul on Behram Abduweli.

Despite being reduced to ten men for the final moments, the Lions held firm. China’s Zhu Chenjie missed a late opportunity to pull one back, sending a close-range effort over the bar, ensuring Cameroon kept a well-deserved clean sheet.

The synergy between Nagida, Etta Eyong, and Alioum suggests a bright path forward as the squad continues to evolve.
