African Trio of: Nigeria, Zambia, and Morocco Through to Women’s U17 World Cup Last 16
Three of Africa’s five representatives have successfully navigated the group stage to qualify for the Round of 16 at the Women’s 17 World Cup, marking a historic achievement for the continent.

Nigeria, Zambia, and Morocco all secured crucial final day victories to book their places in the knockout rounds, while Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire bow out of the tournament.
Nigeria delivered a commanding performance to defeat Samoa Island 4-0, ensuring their progression from the group with 3 points.
Zambia matched that winning margin, overcoming New Zealand 4-0. The result sees the Copper Queens advance in a major boost for the debutants.

The most dramatic qualification came from the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco. Their spirited 3-1 victory over Costa Rica saw them qualify as one of the best fourth-placed teams (best losers) across the groups, extending their memorable run in the competition.
However, it was not a clean sweep for the African sides. Cameroon lost 1-0 to Mexico, a result that sealed their exit. Meanwhile, Côte d’Ivoire suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to European giants Spain, meaning they leave the tournament with just the one point gained on the opening day against South Korea.
The focus now shifts to the Round of 16, with three captivating matchups ahead for the remaining African teams.
