Bafana Bafana visa breakthrough clears path for departure after travel delay

South Africa’s planned departure to the United States was briefly disrupted by visa complications, but all players have now been cleared to travel ahead of the team’s rescheduled flight.

The Bafana Bafana are finally set to depart for the World Cup after earlier being forced to cancel their scheduled trip on Sunday due to visa-related complications.

The travel setback had raised concerns within the South African camp, with administrative delays preventing the delegation from leaving as initially planned. However, a major breakthrough was confirmed by minister of Sports Gayton Mckenzie after all players successfully received their visas, clearing the squad for travel.

His official update revealed that while the entire playing group has now been granted clearance to travel, four members of the technical and support staff are still awaiting their documentation. Those yet to receive their visas include the assistant coach, team doctor, head of security and one performance analyst.

Despite the outstanding staff clearances, the team’s charter flight is now expected to leave tomorrow as preparations resume for their trip.

The resolution comes as a major relief for South Africa, whose preparations had been briefly thrown into uncertainty by the administrative hurdle. The delay had threatened to disrupt final logistical plans, but the latest developments ensure the players remain on course for their scheduled programme in the United States.

Bafana Bafana will now turn their full focus to the task ahead as they prepare to continue their international assignment after overcoming an off-field obstacle that had momentarily stalled their journey. They open the World Cup on June 11th against Mexico.
